Tiivistelmä:Token efforts for laid-off or terminated employees are no longer sufficient. Balanced outplacement services are necessary to enhance employment recruitment, maintain employee morale, protect the firm's reputation in the marketplace, and guard against lawsuits. Three basic situations of involuntary terminations are discussed: Cyclical or seasonal contractions, company deterioration, unsatisfactory individual performance. Employer concerns, cost effectiveness, and public sentiments are analyzed. A model outplacement program with details of financial, psychological and job search support is presented.
