Tiivistelmä:A long study of career management at EDF brought to light the contradictions that exist between the bureaucratic company system based on a rigid set of rules and procedures and the individual strategies of the employees. There are some mechanisms making an adjustment between the organizational system of values and individual aspirations possible. In a setting where organizational culture is strong enough adoption of prevailing rules do not prevent people from pursuing different strategies. EDF is a good example of an enterprise which succeeds in organizing its staff's life around the interest of the business.
