| Tiivistelmä: | 3M's R and D Laboratory during 1986 was working out a Quality/Productivity Program. It was built around the concept that information is the product of the laboratory. Manufacturing and marketing were determined as the laboratory's customers. The way how to make proper use of the scientific method was identified. Just-in-time processing concept was interpreted for laboratory circumstances. A list of productivity indices were assembled which were grouped under headings: l. Laboratory strategic and operating plans, 2. Intra-laboratory indices, 3. Partnerships and program milestones, 4. Financial indices. This program was introduced in January 1987. It has helped to improve communication between laboratory and its customers. |
