| Tiivistelmä: | Drawing on a number of case studies carried out in various countries of the developing world, the types of employment are examined children are most frequently engaged in and the risks to which they are exposed, their earnings, the relationship between their work and schooling, and the constraints on the exercise of their rights. Although these issues have been the subject of policy and legislative developments in recent years, there still remains a wide gap between law and practice. Some of the grass-root initiatives and public sector projects now under way provide examples of effective down-to-earth activities to project child workers and meet their needs and point to the direction in which government policy should move. |
