| Tiivistelmä: | Forty-six empirical studies directly investigating the effects of three non- verbal variables (demographic cues, physical appearance, non-verbal behaviors) on performance appraisal were reviewed. Relevant social psychological and communication research in the areas of person perception and impression formation was highlighted.The effects of non-verbal cues were found significant. The review also revealed that the majority of performance appraisal literature has extensively examined demographic cues; potential interactions among the three classes of non-verbal variables have been generally ignored; most of the research is non- theoretical. A conceptual framework was developed and proposed as a remedy. |
