| Tiivistelmä: | Decision-makers in organizations use dimensions to sort strategic issues. The dimensions implied by literatures and dimensions generated by an empirical study is compared. The objective of the empirical study was to (1) capture the dimensions that decision-makers employ to differentiate and categorize issues; and (2) use a methodology that could capture how the organizational context was reflected in sorting criteria. While some similarities are identified, there are some differences between what the literature assumes and what dimensions decision-makers in the New York/New Jersey Port Authority use to sort issues. Implications for theories of decision-making and interpretation in organizations are discussed. |
