| Tiivistelmä: | The article investigates the effect of the standard deviation and change in expected value of the exchange rate on the volume of foreign direct investment. A theoretical model is set up in three variants: output sold in the capital importing country, output exported back to the home country,and both production and sales free to chose. The model is tested on the data of direct foreign investment into the US from five developing countries. An expected $ revaluation reduces variability of the exchange rate and thereby decreases capital inflow. |
