Tiivistelmä:An international study of managing major change in R and D (research and development) was undertaken. Managers need to address the change forces managed least effectively so far - partnering and globalization - as these ones will have the greatest increase. The objectives of this research were to identify the major forces driving change, and to determine how they will increase. Successful change in USA companies depends greatly on leadership , not only by top management, but also by R and D management and change champions. Successful change in Japan depends mostly on the use of teams followed by top management quickly recognizing and being committed to the need for change.
