| Tiivistelmä: | The effect of participation in Works Council on career development is examined. The results of an empirical study are reported. The most important findings are, that there is indeed a difference between careers of the entire working population and those of Works Council members. These differences, however, can be explained by the same factors that are known from research on career patterns for the entire working population. Yet 24 p.c. of the respondents consider the influence of participation as being negative; 12 p.c. see a positive influence. These are organizational, rather than individual results. The consequences for future research and policies are discussed. |
