Tiivistelmä:In Japan, a government-led grand strategy generates and protects infant industries and their technologies until they develop competitive strength. The government fosters all-out development of national technologies and keiretsu-conglomerate structures able to endure prolonged losses while bringing R and D to fruition and building market share for resultant products. The R and D tactics pursued by Japanese companies to build and maintain firm technological foundations are described. There is a clear effort toward rapid response to market needs and constant improvement in the technology leading to outstanding production.
