Tiivistelmä:The gradual liberalization of the Indian economy has exposed weaknesses in many companies. "Failed" companies are defined as those generating an insufficient return on capital. The reasons for failure can be divided between internal and external factors. The former include poor top management, conservatism, complacency and poor financial controls. External factors include cancellation of major projects, increased competition, changes in government regulations and lack of insurance against risks. The method for turning round failed companies is to carry out an audit of strengths and weaknesses, the organizational structure, manpower and financial controls.
