Tiivistelmä:Deep comprehension of the demands and problems of consumers is necessary for satisfaction of users by new and improved products. Practical and theoretical methods have been developed, that aid the management of innovation in exploring the different demands and in creating new innovations which meet these demands. These methods are called "need-assessment". However, the practical applicability of these methods is not explored yet. The state of the applications of the methods in the Swiss machine tool and vehicle industry is described.
