| Tiivistelmä: | Many Japanese companies have run into troubles in their attempts to import to the information systems (IS) management style, organizational structure, and systems they use in Japan. Hitachi's divisions couldn't always exchange data efficiently with their own customers. Nomura Securities, Japan's largest stock trading company until recently had contracted most of its information processing to service bureaus, but now decided to develop its own back-office systems and installed IBM mainframes. Japanese companies that chose to stay with non-IBM-compatible systems encounter difficulties. For American employers it is not easy to adapt to the Japanese decision making style. Toyota sticks to Japanese-style IS management in part. |
