| Tiivistelmä: | The problem of maximizing the reliability of a system through the optimal assignment of components to parallel-series and series-parallel systems is concerned. Any component can be assigned to any position of the system and the reliability of component j is r i p j if it is assigned to position i. An algorithm is developed to obtain an optimal assigment for parallel-series systems. A simple optimal assigment rule is derived for series-parallel systems with only two positions in each minimal cutset and with component reliabilities invariant of positions. |
