Tiivistelmä:Global competitive forces have raised the standards for organizational capability. It is shown how the human resource management (HRM) function should be developed in order to increase the competitive advantage of the firm. The following steps in revitalizing a HRM function are proposed and discussed: 1. assess what HR competences are needed; 2. assess current levels of HR competencies; 3. identify competencies which must be strengthened or added; 4. communicate the need for change; 5. seed in outside expertise if desired; 6. provide learning opportunities for HRM staff; 7. help individuals to increase their HRM capability; 8. Evaluate success of the revitalization effort; 9. Provide remedial learning, if necessary.
