| Tiivistelmä: | The positions of the German government and other major German political forces concerning the completion of the single European market and the Treaty of Maastricht are investigated. The investigation focuses on the issues of the economic integration, first of all on the question of a common European currency. Arguments for and against the Treaty of Maastricht are presented from German point of views. Although the two chambers of German Parliament, the Bundestag and the Bundesrat passed a bill in which they accepted the Treaty of Maastricht, in exchange they got the right not to join the monetery union, which reduces the chance of the common currency. |
