| Tiivistelmä: | This paper focuses on understanding the consequences of European integration for a particular group of small, export-dependent, welfare states which have traditionally preferred autonomy to integration in their international relations. Two important constraints: international pressures and societal pressures affect the timing and depth of Scandinavian policy adaptation to the EC's internal market program. This paper combines domestic and international determinants to explain how and why Sweden, Norway, and Denmark adapt economic policies to meet the demands of European integration. |
