Tiivistelmä: | The report analyzes the German market for fast food. Definitions of fast food outlets can be complicated by the increasing presence of quick service restaurants. As a result, for reasons of precision and to aid cross country analysis, Euromonitor has opted for a narrower definition of fast food. For the study's purposes, fast food outlets are distinguished by the characteristics: (i) A standardised and restricted menu, (ii) tight individual portion control, (iii) individual packaging of items, (iv) a young and unskilled labour force, (v) self-service, (vi) usually American parentage, (vii) chained and franchised operations under a uniform fascia and corporate identity. For the purposes of the study, the market is segmented into four sectors: (i) burgers, (ii) piuzzas, (iii) desserts, and (iv) others.
