| Tiivistelmä: | Among the principal achievements of economic Sovietologists was the deflation of the highly inflated Soviet statistics on economic growth. In sharp contrast, authoritative western scholars attempted to inflate official Soviet statistics on scrappage (replacement). The authors recount the reasons why they consider these efforts to have been misguided. Some of these reasons have been presented in earlier articles in a variety of journals. This line of reasoning is summarised and expanded in this paper. |
