| Tiivistelmä: | Under the given constraints of space and time it would be impossible to compete with monograph analyses such as the forthcoming OECD volume on Hungary. Instead, in this article six selected issues will be tackled in order to present a summary assessment and an answer to the questions raised in the title. The customary ritual presents Hungary as a prime case for gradualist transformation strategy. In political science literature it has developed into a source of vivid controversy whether and to what extent gradualism has been a liability or an asset to the country. |
