Tiivistelmä:The authors' analysis is based on two pillars. The authors commence with an examination of the framework of labour and employment legislation. This is followed by a review of current liberalisation measures and their public reception. The authors then attempt to identify what they would call, for lack of a better term, the determining interests which have framed, and are framing, the neo- liberal transformation of Lithuania. The authors come to the tentative conclusion that, although the Lithuanian state has been remapped so as to accommodate the interests of capital, potentially to the detriment of labour there remains a possibility for a reassertion of organized labour and a concomitant reorientation of Lithuanian politics towards a left-centre consensus.
