| Tiivistelmä: | Social scientists of late socialism and the first years of transition made interesting statements on the expected distribution of private property in post-socialist economies. Moreover, they also tried to define the social groups which would produce the stratum of big owner-entrepreneurs. Programmes and manifestos of the new political forces dealt extensively with the optimal ownership structure of the emerging new democracies as well. The authors first present a short overview of these hypotheses. Then they compare them with the results of their research, the purpose of which was to describe the business strategy of big Hungarian privately owned firms, and the business mentality, career path and values of their owner-managers. |
