Tiivistelmä: | This article asks if the Russian Constitutional Court (hereafter as: C-C.) can be strong enough to rebuild a balanced constitutional system within the 1993 constitution framework etc. The early days of the C-C. were marked by the turbulent political situation of the early post-Soviet period. The C-C. had to show self-restraint to avoid any further politicisation. Still, it cannot directly sanction presidential legal acts. However, case law reveals a progressive evolution of its means of action. The C-C. has adapted control methods and it is participating in the stabilisation and democratisation of the new state. |
