Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines the influence of performance-related (henceforth as: p-r. ) pay on several dimensions of job satisfaction (here as: j-s). In cross-sectional estimates p-r. pay is associated with increased overall s-f., s-f. with pay, s-f. with job security and s-f. with hours. It seems to be negatively associated with s-f. with the work itself. Yet, after taking into account for worker fixed effects the positive associations remain and the negative association disappears. These results appear robust to a variety of alternative specifications, supporting the notion of p-r. pay allowing increased opportunities for worker optimization. |
