| Tiivistelmä: | The subjects of this paper are bonds, loans, banks and banking and investment banking. With banks increasingly consolidating or at least cross-linking their debt-arranger activities, this article has concluded that its annual bond, loan and MTN rankings should appear as a single table. The author looks at the ways in which boundaries between different areas of debt are becoming blurred and assesses the challenge to investment banks' core business from commercial banks. The paper answers the question why investment banks continue to scale back credit lending and considers the factors considered by investment bankers in providing loans. The paper also provides the examples of companies that hired commercial banks rather than investment banks. |
