| Tiivistelmä: | In principle, the World Bank's loans are allowed to exceed its subscribed capital so its capital ratio is about 15 times higher than that of a commercial bank. However, only 8.5% of the capital share have been paid in. And only half of the shares are those of reliable governments Another problem is that the bank is also committed to make $45 billion of loans not yet disbursed. A third problem is that some borrowers are falling into arrears. To make things worse, the bank's borrowers suffered huge losses since 1985 because their obligations are quickly increasing in terms of dollar. |
