Tiivistelmä:Traditional approaches to theory building are not entirely consistent with the assumptions of alternative research paradigms that are now assuming more prominence in organizational study. Arguments are presented in favour of a multiparadigm approach. The ways of bridging across blurred paradigm boundaries are examined. The transition zones between the radical humanist, the radical structuralist, the interpretivist, and the functionalist paradigms are investigated. For a greater understanding of the multiparadigm approach to theory building a metaparadigm perspective is developed and applied. The consequent greater potential of constructing alternative theories is demonstrated.
