| Tiivistelmä: | The paper describes the development of business administration and management science in Finland after World War 2. It emphasizes the strong impact of Finish scientist, especially Martti Saario, and the influence of German scientists, especially Erich Schneider and Erich Gutenberg, and of American scientists, especially C. Westchurchmann and Jim March on the development of the field in Finland. The author advances the hypothesis that two major aspects contributed to the successful development of management science in Finland: the integration of economics and management science on the one hand, and the integration of Finnish management scientist into a worldwide network of new academic institutions of new international academic institutions and with scientists in Europe and the United States on the other. |
