| Tiivistelmä: | It is attempted to summarize the radical transformation that Soviet perspectives of medium-term social future of the world appear to have undergone in recent years. Soviet views of the future have become more uncertain, and on balance more pessimistic. Futher social progress is no longer anticipated to take the form of territorial extension of socialism on a country-by-country basis, for prevailing patterns of interdependence have frozen the boundaries geographically between the two systems for the foreseeable future. Conceptions of the course open to further social progress have been radically transformed in a sense that might be characterized as globalization. |
