| Tiivistelmä: | Some major myths get in the way of starting and continuing successful cooperative research between industry and universities. They are discussed in detail and it is demonstrated that they can be overcome successfully. It is evidenced that cooperative research is valuable both for industry and the universities; there are many (not just a few) ways that successful cooperation can be structured; university and industrial cultures can be successfully merged if everyone looks to build on the strengths of the cultures which are different; everyone can be engaged in cooperative research and technology transfer. Small companies are not excluded from this cooperation. |
