| Tiivistelmä: | The future exercise carried out under the aegis of the French government's Commissariat General du Plan (CGP) was the Horizon 2000 Project. The main point of the study can be expressed in two questions: Should the French fear the year 2000 ? and What will it mean to be French in the year 2000 ? French identity seemed particularly important and so far almost unexplored theme. Globalization of the economy, ageing of the population, immigration, language and culture were the key issues. |
