| Tiivistelmä: | There has been a further improvement in the state of the world economy during the course of this year. While economic growth has remained strong in the developing and newly industrializing countries and the upturn in North America continued, the cyclical recovery in Western Europe has gained in scope and strength; last but not least, the Japanese economy has also begun to move out of stagnation. Overall, these trends have reduced the differences in the level of economic activity between the industrialized nations. |
