| Tiivistelmä: | The EU banana market reforms in the early to mid-1990s have triggered one of the most controversial trade disputes to have the world economy in recent years. The Common Market Organization for bananas introduced in its initial form in July 1993 was made necessary by the completion of the Single European Market whereby the previous national schemes for importing bananas, which varied considerably throughout the EU had to be harmonised to create an import regime that would be common to all EU member states. |
