| Tiivistelmä: | This article discusses whether the provisions of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), as amended by the implementation of the Uruguay Round Agreements, are capable of being directly effective in the European Community. The GATT has been in force since January 1948 and has as its goal the growth of international trade by way of the elimination of discrimination in international trade relations and the reduction of tariffs and other barriers to trade, claims the author. |
