| Tiivistelmä: | Globalization and its discontents are the defining concepts of the late twentieth century - global communications, global culture, global financial markets, and most especially, global economic integration. While much of the focus upon global economic integration initially focused upon trade in goods - and upon the debates regarding "free trade" - it is now recognized that this is a shallow understanding of our global reality. While it is widely acknowledged that the world trading system's greatest accomplishment has been the reduction of tariffs, especially among the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, to "almost negligible levels, deep economic integration goes further. |
