Tiivistelmä: | This article seeks to contribute to the post-Seattle analysis. First, it offers an overview of historical institutionalism as an analytical framework, focusing on those aspects that are pertinent to this article. Secondly, utilising this analytical framework it offers a reading of the institutional development of post-war trade regulation that highlights those key exogenous and endogenous events and influences that have contributed to the development of what are termed hereafter "critical moments" and "critical junctures" intrinsic in the shaping of trade regulation's institutional trajectory. Thirdly, against this backdrop it explores the inertia that crystallised during the Seattle Ministerial Meeting. Finally, this article offers some suggestions to the reconstruction of the post-Seattle trade agenda. |
