| Tiivistelmä: | The effects of the radical reforms recently introduced in the Soviet Union /called by the mass media perestroika/ are discussed in the context of East-West relations. Historical perspectives of the reforms are outlined. Past experiences in the East-West cooperation are examined. Specific elements of the new economic mechanism being introduced in the Soviet Union are analysed. A scenario is elaborated for prospects of business expansion in Eastern Europe. The concept of the radical restructuring of East-West business relations is described. Institutional arrangements and policy measures are discussed as a framework for the rapid expansion of Western firms on the East European markets. |
