| Tiivistelmä: | A definition is presented for dumping. The general background of the GATT antidumping law is outlined. Data are published about protective actions by country. Evidences of the attractiveness of antidumping procedures relative to other instruments of contingent protection are examined. Rationales for dumping are discussed and are compared with rationales for antidumping. Antidumping policies are found to be built on very weak theoretical foundations. Major effects of antidumping law on the trading environment are demonstrated. Implications for the trading system and suggestions for improvement are summarized. |
