| Tiivistelmä: | The article is based on a survey of foreign firms operating in Vietnam, carried out in Hanoi and Saigon during November and December 1991. Western investment in Vietnam has not met initial expectations. Indeed, perhaps one should be asking what is about Vietnam that drives firms to invest in a country that exercises their patience, capital and pragmatism to the limits? The almost unanimous answer given by foreign businessmen resident in this "frontier country" is a conviction that Vietnam will become another Asian Tiger. |
