| Tiivistelmä: | The integration of intonation into linquistic theory raises epistemological problems. Having presented three clearly empirical descriptions of French intonation the author proceeds to explaining his hypothetico-deductive method which enables the obtaining of results emanating from a theory, instead of the theory springing from empirical data. |
