| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines three major shifts associated with the new boundaryless career model and provides resources for helping individuals manage these transitions. The first shift, from a focus on extrinsic rewards to intrinsic rewards. The second shift, from firm-reliance to self-reliance. The third shift, from organizational loyalty to professional loyalty. The authors discuss social capital as a source of strategic competitive advantage and how networking can be utilized to develop one's social capital. The authors recommend individuals adopt a balanced scorecard approach to networking in order to strategically build their network of contacts in three domains- organization, profession, and community-to increase their opportunities for career success. |
