| Tiivistelmä: | European integration has clearly advanced considerably since its relaunch in the mid-1980s: most of the measures which were deemed to be necessary to establish the Single European Market (SEM) have been put in place; many non-SEM policies have been extended in both scope and depth - the structural policies, for example, and foreign policy; and there have been institutional changes which have strengthened the decision-making capacity of European Union (EU) institutions - the most notable of which have been the increased provision for qualified majority voting in the Council of Ministers, and the increased legislative powers of the European Parliament (EP). |
