| Tiivistelmä: | The article deals with the European Central Bank (or ECB). In his article, Alice in Euroland, published in the previous issue of the Journal of Common Market Studies, Buiter (1999) offers a wide-ranging critique of the institutional arrangements and operating practices governing the activities of the Eurosystem in Stage Three of Economic and Monetary Union in Europe. As an alternative, it is suggested that the possibility be entertained not that the ECB has the right approach to transparency, to accountability etc. Some conceptual issues are also discussed. |
