| Tiivistelmä: | The EU has been a relatively attractive location for US companies throughout the 1980s and the early 1990s. In a995, worldwide capital expenditures by US majority-owned affiliates in manufacturing industries amounted to US$35,767m, of which 50.3 per cent were spent in the EU. The attractiveness of the EU market to US investors is linked to its size - a common EU market with a GDP of 6,063 bn ECU in 1995 -- and to the prospects of further enlargements of the Union in the forseeable future. |
