Tiivistelmä:This study represents an initial attempt to develop measures to the three total quality management (TQM) principles advanced by Dean and Bowen (1994). Objective indicators of principle implementation were unavailable. It is hoped that the formulation of these measures will stimulate others to evaluate the generalizability of the TQM measures proposed. This study recommends the involvement of all organizational employees in monitoring the adoption of TQM principles. It is usually recommended that all relevant parties should be involved in TQM assessments but in practice co-workers and subordinates are not included. This is surprisingly given the importance attached to measurement in TQM and the extent to which TQM is evolving into a standard business practice.
