| Tiivistelmä: | The European Commission has rejected proposals by the German government to hand responsibility for decisions on European cartel cases to an independent body of experts. The proposal - put forward by the German economics minister as part of the programme for Bonn's six-month presidency of the EU - was to have a European cartel office modelled on Germany's Bundeskartellamt. Brussels feared that his could give too much power back to the member states. |
