New competitive challenges have emerged giving impetus to build up multidimensional capabilities based on links between geographic, functional, and central management. International operations require transitions from organizational symmetry to differentiation, from dependence or independence to interdependence, from control to coordination and cooption. What is critical is not just the structure, but also the mentality of those, who constitute the structure. Not a formal global matrix structure is vital but a matrix in the minds of managers. |
