| Tiivistelmä: | Relatively recent approaches to describing the nature of managerial work are discussed and the skills needed for successful managers are identified, including the implications of such research for the development of managers. It is concluded that those involved in developing managers must concentrate on preparing such people for working in organizations by sensitizing them to the nature of managerial work within the context of the organization and by developing competencies that will equip them to cope with and manage organizational variables. The application of diaries and questionnaires in management research is discussed. |
