Tiivistelmä:Rocco, Inc., a privately held poultry company, instituted a literacy program to help its 1750 hourly employees who did not finish the eighth grade to reach their full potential. Since the employees lacked reading and writing skills, they were not promoted. The objective was to encourage employee participation in managing the company. Meanwhile, Weber Metals, Inc. was forging a partnership with a local school to help them to teach employees to read and to write. Everybody wins, Weber Metals, the school district and Weber employees. Both programs exemplify the new commitment to educating the underskilled work force.
