| Tiivistelmä: | This study examines the performance of 118 randomly selected university libraries (henceforth as: u-libs.) in German- and English-speaking countries (here as: G-spkg. / E-spkg.) using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results reveal that - assuming a constant returns-to-scale technology (as: r-to-sc.) - 10 u-libs. are efficient. Under variable r-to-sc. the number of fully efficient libs. increased to 34. A group-wise comparison revealed that u-libs. from E-spkg. countries are on average more efficient than those from G-spkg. countries (original in German). |
